Title:
Instructional Designer (Contractor)
Encompass Communications and Learning, Inc., is seeking a highly skilled instructional designer (ID) to support the design, development, and delivery of training for life sciences clients on a project-by-project basis.
This is a remote, contract-based role with work assigned as needed, and pay is hourly. Hours and workload may vary depending on project scope and client needs.
Responsibilities
- Summary
- In this role, you will serve as a senior-level ID lead, owning workstreams from early solutioning through development and delivery. You’ll partner closely with our business development and project management teams, as well as directly with clients, to shape, propose, and execute high-impact learning solutions. This role is best suited for someone who is self-directed, consultative, and comfortable taking ownership of both strategy and execution.
- Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business development to shape learning solutions, contribute to proposals, and support client presentations.
- Collaborate with project managers to define scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Lead instructional design across the full project lifecycle, from analysis through delivery, for workshops, participant materials, job aids, and media-based learning.
- Work directly with clients to identify needs and recommend practical, instructionally sound solutions.
- Develop outlines, objectives, and design documents aligned with project scope.
- Support or lead train-the-trainer sessions as needed.
Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
- Qualifications
- 3+ years of instructional design experience in an agency or consulting environment.
- 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech training.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and the ADDIE model.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Availability during standard business hours, with flexibility based on project needs.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, if needed.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and virtual platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom.
- Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree in instructional design, adult learning, or related field.
- Experience contributing to proposals and client presentations.
- Experience in a consultative, client-facing role with end-to-end ownership of solutions.
